ETC Cares: A Rewarding Experience with The Repurpose Project

Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle

ETC Cares partnered with The Repurpose Project, a Gainesville-based non-profit dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability through encouraging residents to buy second-hand. The organization operates a vibrant thrift store that diverts unwanted items from landfills including clothes, furniture, fabrics, and household goods, and gives them a new life.

Forming Bonds Through Fabrics

Several ETC Cares volunteers, including Allye C., Kelly Y., Taylor P., Jasmyn R., and Katie S., generously donated their time. The Gainesville office team tackled the stores’ "fabrics corner," tackling various tasks. While some meticulously organized and categorized rolls of fabric, others sorted through a diverse selection of patterns, creating a user-friendly filing system.

Event Tickets Center Production Analyst, Allye C., went above and beyond, demonstrating the spirit of resourcefulness at the heart of The Repurpose Project. Spotting a collection of old jars, Allye envisioned a new purpose for them.

"It took a lot of patience this time around as we all wanted the craft section to look perfect. I, for one, took a lot of pride in the way we were able to get a whole wall rolled up, re-rolled, and organized for the store! We had to look around because it was very cool and packed with a lot of hidden things that made you smile. I even found a few glass Ball jars for my wedding centerpieces. I'm very excited to give back, be able to reuse the jars and then repurpose them again after my wedding!"

More Than Just Organization

The hours flew by as the ETC Cares team transformed the fabrics corner. Looking at the beautifully organized and colorful section they created, a sense of accomplishment was felt by all of those involved. This volunteer experience went beyond mere organization; it was about contributing to a sustainable future and forging connections –  both with the dedicated team at The Repurpose Project and the community it serves.

ETC Cares' dedication to environmental responsibility and community engagement shines through in this partnership. Through their efforts, they not only promote responsible consumption but also inspire others to embrace the power of repurposing.
